Cardiovascular Training Grant (T32)
The Cardiovascular Training Program is in its 38th consecutive year of NIH support through the Institutional NRSA (T32) mechanism. Dr. Jay W. Mason, Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, commenced the first training grant in cardiology in 1984. This training program has been highly productive, having trained 113 trainees since its inception, with the vast majority having gone on to pursue research careers. This training program spans 13 departments across campus and includes 53 faculty mentors who are well-funded investigators leading exciting and productive research programs in cardiovascular research. The Cardiovascular T32 supports postdoctoral researchers in clinical or basic science, who participate in a two-year training program that includes a research project with a multidisciplinary mentoring committee, didactic coursework, and professional development opportunities.
